Key Components
Purpose and Need
 
FAA Order 1050.1E states that this section of EIS "briefly specifies the underlying purpose and need for the federal action. It presents the problem being addressed, how the alternatives would resolve the problem, and the benefits of the federal action."
Alternatives
 
This component of the EIS discusses reasonable alternatives to the proposed project, including those which may avoid or minimize adverse impacts to or enhance the quality of the human environment.
 
The following potential alternatives will be evaluated as appropriate in the EIS:

Affected Environment
 
This component of the EIS delineates the study area for the proposed projects and documents the existing conditions in terms of various environmental resource categories.
Environmental Consequences
 
This component of the EIS evaluates the impacts, both positive and negative, of the proposed projects in terms of various environmental resource categories. (View EIS impact categories)
Mitigation Measures
 
This component of the EIS identifies potential mitigation to avoid and minimize the harm to the environment from the proposed action.
 
Where impacts cannot be avoided, the EIS identifies the proposed mitigation measures that will be implemented to offset and account for the potential environmental impacts.
Project Status
September 25, 2008
Phase II of the West Bend EIS
is now underway.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the West Bend Municipal Airport Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) has been approved and executed by each of the Cooperating Agencies.  The MOU outlines the procedures and coordination efforts that will be followed in the preparation of the EIS.  Cooperating Agencies serving with FAA on the West Bend EIS include: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Federal Highway Administration, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
